AI traffic surpasses human visits on Japanese web, prompting platforms like note to adapt

A recent Cloudflare report shows that more than half of all web traffic in Japan now comes from automated AI systems rather than human users. The study also found that over 35% of newly created websites are generated by AI, raising concerns that ad‑supported free web models could be undermined as bots replace human visitors.

In response to the growing role of AI in web searches, the Japanese platform note has introduced an "llms.txt" file for creator pages. The file structures key profile and social‑media information to make it easier for large language models such as ChatGPT to retrieve accurate data, reducing hallucinations and token usage. Note aims to help creators reach new readers and job opportunities as AI becomes a primary entry point for information discovery.
