AI transforms financial planning and introduces new security challenges
Artificial Intelligence is fundamentally transforming financial departments by automating planning, analysis, and forecasting. According to Nexia GmbH, AI is evolving from a supporting tool into an integral component of modern financial processes, particularly within Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) and Extended Planning & Analysis (xP&A). Tools like the Lucanet Lume AI assistant allow users to perform analyses using natural language, enabling finance teams to focus on strategic advisory roles rather than routine tasks.
However, the rise of Agentic AI introduces new security challenges. Unlike standard AI that merely generates text, AI agents can autonomously execute chains of actions, such as accessing sensitive files, using software tools, and uploading data to the cloud. This autonomy necessitates a Zero Trust security approach, where every individual action is evaluated at the endpoint. Because agents operate using the existing permissions of a logged-in user, security must focus on monitoring what applications and processes are reading, writing, or connecting to data in real-time.
