AI travel tools face accuracy issues as Disney launches new booking chatbot

A new study by travel concierge company Greetwell reveals that 1 in 6 travelers using AI chatbots were recommended non-existent destinations, tours, or activities. Overall, 55% of AI users encountered at least one inaccuracy, such as incorrect pricing, unavailable bookings, or wrong addresses. While AI adoption for travel planning rose from 15% to 25% in one year according to Deloitte, many users remain hesitant to use these tools for actual reservations.

In response to the growing role of AI in travel, Walt Disney World is launching a beta AI engine for its booking site and app. Powered by Google’s Gemini, the tool will allow guests to ask conversational questions about resort features, location, and pricing. To mitigate inaccuracies, Disney stated the chatbot will only scrape official Disney data rather than the broader internet. The beta will initially be available to randomly selected guests in the United States and Canada.
