AI trust and industry integration face scrutiny in new surveys

Thinkers360, in collaboration with Babson College, has announced its 4th annual AI Trust Index Survey. The research aims to provide a pulse check on sentiment regarding trust in artificial intelligence from the perspectives of both end users and AI providers.

In the commercial insurance sector, a survey commissioned by hyperexponential reveals varying levels of confidence in AI integration. While 51% of underwriters report that AI has helped save time on manual administrative tasks, only 21% believe it has improved decision quality. The report notes a discrepancy in perception: 29% of Chief Underwriting Officers feel AI is fully integrated into workflows, compared to only 12% of senior and lead underwriters.

Furthermore, the study highlights concerns regarding human expertise. Among underwriters, the primary fear is the loss of senior judgment from the industry without proper knowledge transfer, rather than AI replacement itself. Only 15% of firms reported having a method to capture the expertise of their best underwriters.
