AI usage trends in shopping and professional workflows
Recent surveys highlight a growing divide in how artificial intelligence is integrated into consumer and professional activities. In consumer shopping, a study by Mybest of 300 individuals aged 20–50 found that 49.3% experienced regret or failure when using AI to select products, primarily due to incorrect information provided by the AI. While 60.6% use AI for shopping several times a month, only 8.3% fully trust AI to make purchase decisions. Most users (94.7%) continue to conduct additional research via reviews to verify AI suggestions.
In the professional sector, a survey by the Japan Management Association Research Institute of 1,640 marketing and planning professionals indicates that generative AI has reduced the time spent on information gathering (44.5%) and document creation (46.6%). However, it has not significantly increased the time available for deep strategic thinking, with 75.3% reporting that time spent on ideation and strategy has remained unchanged or decreased. Many professionals noted that the burden of verifying and correcting AI outputs often offsets the time saved.
