AI Utilization Contest 2026 seeks practical school AI examples

The Association for Educational AI Utilization (AIUEO), in collaboration with Shogakukan’s “Minna no Kyoiku Gijutsu” editorial department, is hosting the 2nd “AI Utilization in School Settings Contest 2026.” The competition invites teachers from elementary, junior high, high schools, and special needs schools across Japan to submit practical examples of how they have implemented generative AI in their classrooms or administrative duties.

Submissions, which can be individual or in teams of up to five, are due by October 16, 2026. Participants are encouraged to showcase various applications, including subject-specific instruction, inquiry-based learning, student support, and administrative efficiency using tools such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, or Grok.

The event will culminate in the “Educational AI Summit ONLINE” on November 14, 2026. Supported by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, the summit will feature the contest results and award presentations in its first part. The second part, co-hosted with the Organization for Promoting Inquiry-Based Learning (TAO), will focus on inquiry-based learning in the age of AI.
