AI video analysis firms expand surveillance applications in Korea

South Korean AI video analysis companies are expanding their intelligent surveillance applications into retail and defense sectors.

Infinic has implemented its ‘AURON-i Safety’ solution at the Lotte Department Store main branch. The system utilizes 72 existing CCTV cameras to perform real-time AI analysis, specifically designed to detect escalator stoppages. By leveraging existing infrastructure without requiring additional sensors or wiring, the solution aims to reduce installation costs while supporting security personnel through automated alerts. Future plans include expanding capabilities to detect falls, strollers, and missing persons.

Separately, AI firm Invic has been selected as a partner for the Gyeonggi Defense Venture Center. Invic intends to transition its low-light video enhancement and multi-modal object recognition technologies from the public surveillance market to the defense sector. Their ‘NOXAI™’ engine is designed to improve visibility in dark environments and track objects across multiple cameras. The technology is compatible with on-premise, closed-network environments, meeting the specific security requirements of military surveillance and border monitoring.
