AIADMK leaders call for unity amid internal party friction
As the AIADMK marked its 55th foundation day, General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami called for party unity to overcome political challenges and electoral setbacks. In a message to cadres, Palaniswami paid tribute to former leaders M.G. Ramachandran and J. Jayalalithaa, emphasizing the need to strengthen the organization and restore the party's political standing in Tamil Nadu.
Palliswami also criticized the current state government, alleging failures in law and order, healthcare, and social welfare. He urged members to remain vigilant and work collectively to bring the party back to power.
However, internal friction within the party has become public. Senior leader C. Ve. Shanmugam acknowledged evident differences with Palaniswami and called for leadership introspection. Shanmugam stressed the necessity of meaningful dialogue and a general council meeting to assess the party's situation and rebuild cadre confidence. He has been consulting with several AIADMK MLAs as factions within the party attempt to consolidate support following recent electoral losses.
