AIBAT holds thyroid health conference in Reggio Emilia

The Italian Association of Basedow and Thyroid Patients (AIBAT), in collaboration with Ausl IRCCS di Reggio Emilia, held a conference titled ‘Small gland, Great balance: understanding the Thyroid’ at Palazzo Rocca Saporiti. The event focused on common thyroid pathologies, including hypothyroidism, Basedow's disease, Thyroid Eye Disease (TED), and thyroid neoplasia.

The conference featured a new format where patient testimonies introduced each session to ensure medical presentations addressed practical patient needs and used accessible language. A key objective was improving communication between doctors and patients to help individuals better understand their conditions.

During the event, participants honored Emma Bernini, the founder of AIBAT, who passed away recently. Additionally, general practitioners and specialists presented a new collaboration document designed to strengthen the network between hospitals and local healthcare services in the province to streamline patient care pathways.
