Asian Games preparations enter final stages in Japan
Preparations for the upcoming Asian Games in Nagoya and the Aichi region are entering their final stages. The multi-sport event is scheduled to run from September 19 to October 4, featuring approximately 15,000 competitors and officials.
A flame-lighting ceremony recently took place at the National Stadium in Tokyo, where sprinter Yoshihide Kiryu lit the torch. This marks the beginning of a multi-city relay process. The flame will be combined with lights from Hiroshima’s Peace Memorial Park and a new flame lit at Nagoya Castle on August 22 to officially start the torch relay.
To manage costs and accommodate the large number of participants, organizers have implemented diverse housing solutions. Between 4,000 and 5,000 athletes are expected to stay on the Costa Serena cruise ship, while another 2,000 will reside in wooden container-style huts in Nagoya’s Garden Pier area. The remaining participants will stay in standard hotels across the host cities, including Tokyo, where various aquatic and equestrian events will be held.
