AIDA and TUI Cruises enforce strict prohibited item lists
Passengers traveling with AIDA Cruises or TUI Cruises’ ‘Mein Schiff’ line must adhere to specific onboard regulations regarding prohibited items. While illegal substances, weapons, and explosives are universally banned and subject to legal investigation, both cruise lines have additional restrictions on common items.
Fire safety is a primary concern, leading both companies to ban heating and cooking appliances such as irons, kettles, coffee machines, and electric blankets. Regarding technology, AIDA explicitly prohibits WLAN/LTE routers, switches, access points, and satellite phones, while ‘Mein Schiff’ generally bans personal radio and satellite technology.
Rules for drones vary between the two: ‘Mein Schiff’ allows them for private use, whereas AIDA requires prior application and individual approval, with flights permitted only on land. Other notable restrictions include the prohibition of sand and shells on ‘Mein Schiff’ and specific bans on items like tattoo machines or certain radio equipment on AIDA vessels.
