Atlantic Canada: Fisheries seizures, fraud convictions, and P.E.I. gas price hikes

Various legal, economic, and environmental developments have been reported across Atlantic Canada.

In Newfoundland and Labrador, Fisheries and Oceans Canada authorities seized approximately 825 pounds of cod, along with a boat, motor, and processing equipment, during an enforcement action in Bay Roberts. Separately, a butcher in Corner Brook was convicted of theft and eight counts of fraud for providing unauthorized discounts on meat at a Dominion store.

In Prince Edward Island, the Island Regulatory and Appeals Commission implemented an overnight increase in gas prices. Additionally, a couple in Hazelbrook has criticized the provincial government for charging $12,900 in freedom of information fees regarding records of PFAS contamination in their local water supply.

In a separate legal matter, Craig Morley Wilson was sentenced to 15 months in jail in P.E.I. for several offences, including two counts of break and enter.
