AI‑Driven Financial Fraud Surge Spurs $16 B US Losses and Boosts Indian Protection Apps

Financial fraud is accelerating worldwide as cybercriminals deploy artificial‑intelligence tools such as deep‑fake voices, AI‑generated phishing links and crypto investment scams. In the United States, losses are projected to hit $16 billion in 2025, with $7.2 billion tied to cryptocurrency scams and $893 million to AI‑related schemes, according to a recent CFP Board survey. The report notes that 62 % of attacks are phishing or smishing, and only 37 % of respondents feel confident spotting scams.

Facing rising threats, Indian users are turning to dedicated fraud‑protection applications. A market overview lists ten apps, including Quick Heal AntiFraud AI, Truecaller, Microsoft Defender, Norton 360 Deluxe, McAfee Mobile Security and Google Play Protect, each offering features like AI‑powered scam detection, spam‑call blocking, phishing protection, identity monitoring and dark‑web alerts to shield consumers from the expanding fraud landscape.
