AI‑driven ransomware threats push firms toward immutable backup solutions

A recent study of IT and cybersecurity leaders found that 89 % fear data loss from AI‑enhanced ransomware attacks, and 73 % cite stronger backup security as their top defence. Yet only 58 % have deployed immutable backup storage for all data, and just 53 % feel confident they could quickly recover from such an incident. The study also notes that 79 % view attacks on backups as their biggest concern, while adoption of zero‑trust principles remains limited.

Separately, cybersecurity firm CyberSense was awarded “Best Ransomware Recovery Platform.” Its AI‑based solution analyses backup integrity rather than merely detecting malware, aiming for 99.99 % confidence in identifying compromised data and establishing trusted recovery points. The platform reflects a broader shift from pure prevention to recovery readiness, emphasizing the need for verifiable, immutable backups to minimise downtime after ransomware incidents.
