AIEL proposes five policy measures for Italy's wood-energy sector

The Italian Association of Wood Energy (AIEL) has presented five policy proposals to the Italian Government and Parliament aimed at strengthening the wood-energy supply chain. The initiative seeks to integrate energy, forestry, environmental, and industrial policies to enhance national energy security and local economic development.

A primary focus of the proposals is fiscal reform, specifically requesting that the 10% VAT rate on pellets be made permanent and establishing clear tax treatment for wood chips. Additionally, the association is calling for incentives to replace obsolete stoves and heating systems, support for thermal energy communities, and better valorization of Italy's forest heritage.
