AIEL provides guidance for efficient wood and pellet heating

The Italian Association of Wood Energy (AIEL) has released guidance on optimizing the use of wood and pellet stoves for efficient, clean, and safe domestic heating. Key recommendations focus on proper system sizing, as stoves that are too small fail to heat effectively, while oversized units often operate at reduced power, increasing emissions.

AIEL suggests replacing appliances that are more than ten years old with modern generators to improve combustion control and reduce fuel consumption. Users are encouraged to utilize national and regional incentives, such as the 'Conto Termico', to offset replacement costs.

Fuel quality is also highlighted as a critical factor. The association recommends using certified products, such as ENplus® pellets and Biomassplus® certified wood. Proper storage is essential: wood should be well-seasoned and kept in a ventilated, dry area, while pellets require a strictly dry environment to prevent moisture damage.
