Aielli inaugurates Moldovan-themed mural to foster cultural ties

A new street art mural titled ‘HORA’ has been inaugurated in Aielli, Italy, serving as a cultural bridge between the Abruzzo region and the Republic of Moldova. Created by Moldovan artist Radu Dumbravă, the work depicts the Hora, a traditional Moldovan circular dance symbolizing community and unity. The mural integrates Moldovan folk elements, such as traditional costumes, with themes from the ‘Borgo Universo’ project, including cosmic imagery.

The initiative was a collaborative effort between the Municipality of Aielli, the Borgo Universo project, and the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Italy. The inauguration ceremony was attended by the Moldovan Ambassador to Italy, Oleg Nica. Local officials noted that the artwork reinforces Aielli’s identity as an open-air museum and supports the town’s aspirations for UNESCO recognition through urban regeneration and international cultural dialogue.
