AIFA and FOFI sign pact to boost AI‑driven digital tools for Italian pharmacists
Italy’s drug regulator, the Agenzia Italiana del Farmaco (AIFA), and the Federazione degli Ordini dei Farmacisti Italiani (FOFI) have signed a three‑year collaboration agreement. The partnership will use the National Digital Data Platform (Pdnd) to provide pharmacists with up‑to‑date regulatory information on medicines, including official documentation and shortage data. FOFI will deploy an artificial‑intelligence service that integrates this data to assist pharmacists in daily practice, with particular attention to chronic‑disease monitoring and therapeutic adherence. Both parties highlighted that the interoperable data and AI tools are intended to strengthen the role of community pharmacists in proximity health care, improve patient safety, and address drug‑shortage challenges. A technical working group will be created to define operational activities and development areas throughout the agreement’s duration.
