Aifa launches antibiotic resistance training for Italian healthcare workers

A new asynchronous distance learning course titled ‘Antimicrobial Resistance: The One Health Approach’ is now available to healthcare professionals in Italy. Part of the Cosisifa project, the course is funded by Aifa through regional pharmacovigilance funds.

The training is free and provides 13 ECM credits. It is intended for both public and private healthcare workers across all Italian regions, including doctors, nurses, pharmacists, veterinarians, biologists, and chemists. The curriculum is divided into four modules covering the mechanisms of resistance, global and national prevention policies, and the appropriate use of antibiotics through antimicrobial stewardship.

The Cosisifa project, which stands for ‘Citizens and Healthcare Workers Always Informed about Drugs,’ involves over 60 healthcare structures, including universities, research institutes, and regional pharmacovigilance centers. The course will be accessible until September 9, 2027.
