AIGAE launches Cammina Natura hiking initiative across Italy
The eighth edition of Cammina Natura, a national initiative organized by the Italian Association of Environmental Hiking Guides (AIGAE), is scheduled for Saturday, October 24, and Sunday, October 25. The program features over 120 free excursions across Italy, spanning coastal areas, mountains, forests, and protected parks.
The initiative aims to promote biodiversity, sustainable tourism, circular economy, and local historical-archaeological traditions. It also seeks to highlight the professional role of Environmental Hiking Guides (GAE) in territory promotion and interpretation.
In Puglia, activities include a trek through the Gravina di Leucaspide, featuring ancient rock-cut villages and World War II military positions. In Campania, the focus is on the Cilento region via the Mediterranean Diet Lands Path, with excursions near Ascea and Casal Velino covering archaeological sites and coastal landscapes.
The event is supported by the Ministry of Environment and Energy Security, along with various organizations including Legambiente, WWF Italy, and the Touring Club Italiano.
