Aigai International Music Festival to explore Alexander the Great's legacy

The 6th Aigai International Music Festival is scheduled to take place on September 9 and 10, 2026, in Veroia, Greece. Under the theme ‘One Sound, One Culture – The Influence of Alexander the Great on the Countries of our East,’ the event aims to highlight the historical and cultural connections between Macedonia and the peoples of the Eastern Mediterranean and the Near East.

The festival will facilitate a cultural dialogue through music, traditions, and customs, referencing the historical legacy of Alexander the Great and the ancient Kingdom of Macedonia. Participating regions and traditions include Lebanon, Palestine, Egypt, Cyprus, Cappadocia, and Persia.

Organized by the Municipality of Veroia and co-organized with the Ephorate of Antiquities of Imathia, the festival will utilize various venues, including the Polycentric Museum of Aigai - Royal Tombs, the Byzantine Museum, the Archaeological Museum, and the Twin Ottoman Baths. The 2026 edition, led by artistic director Christos Kaliontzidis, expands its artistic scope following the 2025 event. The festival is supported by the Ministry of Culture and features interactive workshops, including storytelling sessions for children by actress Aigli Katsiki.
