Aigialeia officials meet with Greek Ministry to discuss wildfire recovery

Officials from the Municipality of Aigialeia met with the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection to discuss recovery efforts following recent wildfires in the local communities of Neo Erinous and Sympoliteia.

During the meeting, Deputy Minister Kostas Katsafados, Mayor Panagiotis Andriopoulos, and Deputy Mayor Nikos Karaiskou addressed the need for relief and restoration for those affected. Key discussion points included repairing technical and building infrastructure, restoring irrigation and water networks destroyed by the fires, and planning erosion and flood prevention works to mitigate risks during the winter months.

Katsafados committed to supporting the recovery process and pledged to re-examine the inclusion of Aigialeia in the 'Achaia Pass' program to bolster local tourism. Mayor Andriopoulos stated that the municipal authority is working to restore all problems and fortify the region.
