Aiguamet challenges Veolia in Barcelona water tender

The Aiguamet consortium, composed of Aqualia and Global Omnium, has filed allegations with the Àrea Metropolitana de Barcelona (AMB) regarding a water management tender valued at over 1 billion euros. The tender covers water services for Molins de Rei and eight other municipalities.

Aiguamet is demanding that Veolia justify a 60% reduction in its proposed investment section, a figure significantly higher than the 22.63% average reduction proposed by other competitors and the 10% typically considered reasonable. While Veolia is currently the frontrunner with a maximum technical and economic score of 100 points, Aiguamet argues that such a drastic reduction in investment cannot be offset by other aspects of the bid or used to alter the contract's economic balance.

Additionally, Aiguamet has requested access to various files related to the management of Aigües de Barcelona, including documentation on drinking water tariff modifications in 23 metropolitan municipalities and the 2025 investment plan.
