AIIB aims to double annual financing at Doha annual meeting
At the 11th Annual Meeting of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) in Doha, officials discussed strategies to address global infrastructure financing gaps. AIIB President Zou Jiaqi announced a goal to nearly double the bank’s annual financing to approximately 17.6 billion euros by 2030, prioritizing climate resilience, renewable energy, digital transformation, and regional connectivity.
On the sidelines of the meeting, Kuwaiti Finance Minister Yaqoub Al-Rifai held several bilateral discussions. He met with AIIB President Zou Jiaqi to explore cooperation in national capacity building and knowledge transfer. Al-Rifai also met with Qatari Finance Minister Ali Al-Kuwari to discuss fiscal policies, Mauritanian Minister Abdullah Suleiman Cheikh Sidi regarding investment and development, and Maldivian Finance Minister Hassan Zareer to coordinate positions within international financial institutions.
Additionally, Al-Rifai met with Zhang Junhong, an assistant minister of finance and governor for China at the AIIB, to discuss strengthening financial and economic cooperation between Kuwait and China through multilateral development banks.
