AIIB Pursues Strategic Investment Partnership with Kerala for Infrastructure and Blue Economy
The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) met Kerala Chief Minister V. D. Satheesan on July 29, 2026, expressing interest in a long‑term strategic investment partnership. The discussions focused on channeling AIIB funding into Kerala’s infrastructure, climate‑resilient transport, water security and the state’s blue‑economy initiative, Mission Samudra, which includes fisheries, ports, inland waterways, maritime logistics, coastal infrastructure, tourism and skill development.
AIIB highlighted its existing involvement in projects such as Kochi Metro Phase II (Pink Line), the Kerala Solid Waste Management Project, the Resilient Kerala Programme and the Dam Rehabilitation and Improvement Project (DRIP‑2). Both sides agreed to continue consultations, identify priority projects and build a structured pipeline for future investments across renewable energy, healthcare, education, urban infrastructure and state highways.
