Mei Fukuda wins Golf 5 Ladies in playoff victory

Mei Fukuda, a 20-year-old professional in her second year, secured her first career victory at the Golf 5 Ladies tournament held at Golf 5 Country Mizunami in Gifu Prefecture. Fukuda finished with a total of 15 under par, defeating Megumi Kido in a three-hole playoff.

Kido, 36, narrowly missed her second career win—the first since 2012—after a strong final round of 65. Fukuda, originally from Wakayama Prefecture, becomes the first player from her home prefecture to win on the tour.

Other competitors in the tournament included Kokone Yoshimoto, who moved into contention during the second round, and Aiki Takano, who focused on score-based goals to improve her performance following inspiration from Shiho Kuwaki’s major victory.
