Ailoche opens free municipal clinic to combat doctor shortages

The municipality of Ailoche is launching a free medical clinic at the town hall to address the growing shortage of doctors in the region. This initiative, led by re-elected Mayor Massimo Paganini, aims to provide essential services to residents in mountain areas where the decline of general practitioners and pediatricians has made local healthcare increasingly difficult to access.

The clinic will function as a consultation center, supported by Matteo Brustia, a primary physician at the Borgosesia hospital. Additionally, the administration plans to purchase a defibrillator for the municipal area.

In response to similar challenges in high-altitude valleys, Uncem President Roberto Colombero has submitted proposals to the Ministry of Health. These include requesting incentives to encourage doctors to practice in remote areas, strengthening community nursing, improving helicopter rescue landing sites, and utilizing PNRR funds to bolster local health structures.
