Ailton Krenak to debut mural painting at CURA 2026

Ailton Krenak, the first Indigenous member of the Brazilian Academy of Letters, will debut his work in mural painting as part of the CURA 2026 public art festival. The large-scale work will occupy a building facade in Belo Horizonte, visible from Praça Raul Soares, starting August 19.

Krenak, a philosopher, journalist, and author known for his advocacy for socio-environmental justice and Indigenous rights, will have his visual art showcased on a building empena. The festival organizers noted that the selection of Krenak aims to honor ancestral wisdom and deep Brazilian thought.
