AIMIM expels MLC Mirza Rahmat Baig from the party

The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) has expelled Mirza Rahmat Baig from the party with immediate effect. The party's Joint Secretary, SA Hussain Anwar, issued a statement directing Baig to submit his resignation to the Chairman of the Telangana Legislative Council.

Baig, who was elected to the council in 2023 from the Hyderabad Local Authorities constituency, was removed while away on an Umrah pilgrimage. While the party has not officially disclosed the specific grounds for the expulsion, political leaders have called for transparency. Salman Khan, president of Hyderabad Youth Courage, criticized the lack of public disclosure regarding the decision, while Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha leader Nitin Nandekar also demanded an explanation for the sudden move.
