AIOS automotive supplier files for insolvency in Germany
Automotive Integrated Overhead Systems GmbH (AIOS), an automotive supplier based in Überherrn-Altforweiler, has filed for insolvency proceedings. According to the IG Metall Völklingen union, the company applied for self-administered insolvency on October 20.
The supplier, which produces components such as headliners for Mercedes-Benz vehicles, employs approximately 300 people whose job security is now uncertain. The IG Metall union has expressed criticism regarding the filing, noting that the application was submitted in Bremen rather than in Saarland, a move the union described as unusual.
Union representative Ralf Cavelius voiced concerns regarding the self-administration process, stating it creates “Argwohn” (suspicion) because the current management could maintain a significant role. The union has been seeking a social tariff agreement to protect employees and secure a long-term future for the site, noting that insolvency plans had been circulating within the company since June.
