Air Academy High School forfeits Homecoming football game

Air Academy High School in Colorado Springs has announced it will forfeit its Homecoming varsity football game against Lutheran High School, originally scheduled for Friday, Oct. 9. School officials stated the decision was made because the school lacks a full coaching staff, making it impossible to “safely field a varsity football contest.”

Despite the cancellation of the football game, the school intends to proceed with other planned Homecoming festivities. These include a special flyover and a parachute arrival on the field, as well as a presentation from the Air Academy Class of 1976. In place of the varsity football match, the school will host a CHSAA-sanctioned flag football game against TCA at 7 p.m.
