MSD and Lucca Comics launch HPV prevention comic

MSD Italia and Lucca Comics & Games have partnered to launch ‘Il Quinto’, an original comic book designed to raise awareness about the Human Papillomavirus (HPV). The project aims to use the universal language of comics to educate adolescents and young adults about the risks of the virus, which is recognized globally as the second leading infectious cause of cancer in both men and women.

The initiative was presented at the Lucca Comics & Games festival, where the comic will be distributed for free. The creative team includes cover artist Peach Momoko, screenwriter Luca Enoch, and illustrators Giacomo Bevilacqua and Paolo Barbieri. The project seeks to bridge the gap between science and fantasy to encourage viewers to consult medical professionals and make informed health choices.

Nicoletta Luppi, President and CEO of MSD Italia, emphasized that correct information is essential for promoting conscious health decisions. The campaign is intended to be the first step in a broader educational journey involving digital tools and further public events.
