Air Algérie and residents oppose Paris airport expansion

A major expansion plan for Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Orly airports is facing significant opposition from airlines and local residents. The multi-year modernization program, which involves an investment of approximately 8.2 to 8.4 billion euros between 2027 and 2034, aims to increase capacity at Roissy-Charles de Gaulle by 10 million passengers annually.

Air Algérie is among the airlines formally contesting the development. Meanwhile, local residents and environmental associations have organized protests against the Aéroports de Paris (ADP) headquarters. Critics argue the expansion will lead to a 19% increase in air traffic and significant noise pollution, characterizing the project as a disguised extension following the previous abandonment of Terminal 4.
