Air Algérie expands fleet with two new Boeing 737 MAX 8 jets

Air Algérie announced on July 29 that it has taken delivery of two Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, the third jet of its ten‑plane order and part of a broader program that will bring its fleet to about 50 aircraft. The new narrow‑body planes, named "Africa" and "Peace," each seat 160‑210 passengers and consume roughly 20% less fuel, lowering operating costs and emissions. They will support the carrier’s strategy to increase capacity, add routes and higher frequencies across Africa, Europe and the Middle East, and reduce reliance on chartered aircraft. The airline aims to carry 9.8 million passengers by 2026, having recently launched services to Berlin, Warsaw, Kuala Lumpur, Guangzhou and Addis Ababa. The expansion comes as regional rivals Royal Air Maroc and EgyptAir pursue their own fleet‑growth programmes.
