Air Cairo orders 15 Airbus A320neo aircraft

Air Cairo has signed a firm order for 15 Airbus A320neo aircraft, marking the airline’s first direct purchase of aircraft from Airbus. The agreement was announced at the El Alamein International Airshow 2026.

This move signals a strategic shift for the Egyptian carrier, which has historically relied on leased aircraft. By introducing company-owned jets alongside its leased fleet, Air Cairo aims to improve operational flexibility and financial efficiency. The airline plans to expand its fleet from its current size of approximately 45 aircraft to more than 130 by 2034.

The A320neo order is intended to support growing travel demand to and from Egypt, bolstering the nation’s aviation and tourism sectors. While the specific delivery schedule has not been disclosed, the acquisition is part of a broader effort to increase capacity for domestic, regional, and international networks.
