Air Campania assumes control of Benevento public transport

On 1 August 2026 Air Campania officially became the operator of Benevento’s municipal bus network, replacing the former contractor Trotta Bus after a prolonged service crisis. The new contract introduced 29 brand‑new methane‑powered buses, part of a broader fleet renewal that will total 42 modern vehicles, including several fully electric units, and a redesign of shelters and stops. The transition was advanced from the originally planned December start, and city officials said all existing staff were retained with salaries protected.

Mayor Clemente Mastella highlighted the change as the start of a “new era” for local transport, noting that the previous operator had suffered fuel shortages, maintenance failures and minor accidents. The hand‑over also resolved pending wage disputes, such as the delayed payment of the 14th monthly salary to former Trotta Bus employees.
