AIR Campania to Operate Benevento Urban Transport Starting August 1

On 1 August 2026, AIR Campania will take over the operation of the urban public‑transport network in Benevento, Italy, under an emergency contract that runs until the end of the year. The handover follows an agreement signed with the Campania Region and the Benevento municipality, involving regional transport deputy Mario Casillo, regional commission president Luca Cascone and mayor Clemente Mastella.

AIR Campania will absorb the 85 employees of the previous operator, offering permanent contracts to most staff and temporary contracts with a professional‑re‑training programme for 14 workers. A recruitment notice has been published, medical examinations are scheduled, and AIR Campania chief executive Anthony Acconcia said the aim is to preserve jobs while guaranteeing an efficient, reliable service for citizens.
