Air Canada employees arrested in Montreal airport drug probe

Two Air Canada employees involved in ground operations have been arrested following a drug trafficking investigation at Montréal-Trudeau International Airport. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) conducted search warrants at two residences and a vehicle in the Greater Montreal area, as well as at the employees’ work base in Dorval.

The investigation stems from a May operation by the Canada Border Services Agency, which intercepted 62.5 kg of cocaine concealed in backpacks on a flight from Punta Cana. Authorities also seized 56 kg of cannabis.

The suspects are alleged to have participated in a conspiracy to move luggage through secure airport areas to facilitate the importation of cocaine and the exportation of cannabis. The two individuals will be questioned and released pending further proceedings. The RCMP noted that ongoing analysis of evidence could lead to additional arrests and charges.
