Air Canada pilot Geoffrey Wall charged for operating without required licence

Former Air Canada captain Geoffrey Wall, a 59‑year‑old pilot from Barrie, Ontario, was arrested in June 2026 and charged with seven offences, including fraud over C$5,000, use of falsified documents and possession of counterfeit stamps. Investigators say he flew more than 900 domestic and international passenger flights between 2009 and 2025 while holding only a Commercial Pilot Licence, not the mandatory Airline Transport Pilot Licence required for command of large commercial aircraft. Wall earned roughly C$2.9 million in salary during that period. Peel Regional Police uncovered the licensing discrepancy during a documentation review, prompting Transport Canada to intervene and Air Canada to remove the pilot from duty. The airline maintains that safety protocols and regular flight checks were upheld throughout the timeframe. Transport Minister Steve MacKinnon said the government will review the case to ensure the regulatory system functions effectively.
