Air Canada resumes direct flights between Rio de Janeiro and Toronto

Air Canada has resumed direct service between Rio de Janeiro and Toronto, operating out of Galeão International Airport. The airline restarted the route on Tuesday, October 27, approximately six weeks earlier than the previous season's start in early December.

The service utilizes Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, offering 298 seats across business, premium economy, and economy classes. The flight schedule includes three weekly frequencies: departures from Toronto on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, and departures from Rio de Janeiro on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.

This seasonal operation aims to meet increased demand for travel between Canada and Brazil. Air Canada has also indicated plans to increase capacity on this route during the high season between December 2026 and February 2027 by upgrading to Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, which would increase seat capacity by approximately 34% to 400 passengers per flight.
