Air Canada resumes passenger flights to Peru

Air Canada is set to resume direct passenger flights between Lima and Canada on October 26, returning to the Peruvian market earlier than its initial 2027 target. The airline will initially operate routes to Toronto and Montreal using Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft, which feature a capacity of 255 passengers across Business, Premium Economy, and Economy classes.

Following the summer season, the Lima-Montreal route is scheduled to continue year-round starting in April 2027 with three weekly frequencies using Airbus A330-300 aircraft. The decision to return is driven by fleet expansion and the existing Free Trade Agreement between Peru and Canada. While the airline has maintained cargo services in the region, it aims to recapture historical occupancy rates that previously exceeded 90%.

Air Canada's regional manager for the Andean countries noted that future frequency increases will depend on passenger demand, fuel prices, and aircraft availability. The airline will evaluate the profitability of these routes to determine if operations should be expanded or redirected to other markets.
