Air conditioner usage advice in Argentina and Dominican Republic
In Argentina, many households use air‑conditioners in heating mode during winter nights. Specialists say the equipment does not cause illness, but incorrect settings can disturb sleep, especially for people with allergies, asthma or respiratory issues. Recommended practices include keeping indoor temperature between 19 °C and 21 °C, avoiding direct airflow onto the bed, regularly cleaning filters, ventilating the room briefly during the day, using a “Sleep” mode if available, and preventing sudden temperature changes.
In the Dominican Republic, rising temperatures are driving higher electricity consumption as people run air‑conditioners, fans and other appliances more intensively. The local electricity distributor, Edeeste, advises keeping air‑conditioners set between 23 °C and 25 °C, turning off devices when not in use, avoiding operation of appliances in empty rooms, limiting refrigerator door openings, disconnecting chargers, and checking internal electrical installations to reduce monthly bills and stay within the appropriate tariff range.
