Air connectivity in Middle East and Asia-Pacific grows 11%

Air connectivity across the Asia-Pacific and Middle East regions grew by an average of 11% in 2025, according to the Air Connectivity Index released by Airports Council International (ACI) Asia-Pacific & Middle East. The Middle East saw a 21% increase in connectivity, largely driven by the expanding networks of Gulf-based carriers, while the Asia-Pacific region grew by 10%.

Dubai International Airport maintained its ranking as the most connected airport in the combined regions, with a hub connectivity score nearly 40% higher than its closest competitor. Other top-ranked airports included Shanghai Pudong, Incheon International, and Guangzhou Baiyun. Shanghai Pudong recorded the most significant connectivity improvement at 32%, followed by Kuala Lumpur at 30% and Hong Kong at 28%.

While intercontinental traffic rose significantly, with Middle East intercontinental traffic standing 27% above pre-pandemic levels, the report noted that future growth will depend on ensuring that airport infrastructure, airspace capacity, and policy environments can keep pace with expanding demand.
