Air Force Command Headquarters launches Skyward 2026 cultural season

The Air Force Command Headquarters in Taipei has officially transitioned from a restricted military site into a public cultural landmark with the launch of ‘Skyward 2026’. During a press conference held on August 19, officials including Premier Cho Jung-tai and Minister of Culture Lee Yuan celebrated the site’s transformation into a ‘cultural airport’ and a central hub for the city.

The ‘Skyward 2026’ season features a variety of programming, including visual arts, puppet shows, and exhibitions such as the ‘GOOD LUCK! Taiwan’ exhibition. The curation focuses on ‘artistic stitching,’ using light installations and landscape design to connect historical monuments with contemporary public spaces.

Premier Cho noted that while the site’s status as a historic monument imposes certain restrictions, creative curation has breathed new life into the area. He expressed hope that culture could serve as a unifying force for society. The cultural season will continue through November 15, with upcoming events including Taipei Fashion Week.
