Air Fryer Users Get Guidance on Common Mistakes and Smell Removal

Air fryers have become popular kitchen appliances, but users often encounter problems that affect texture and flavor. The most frequent errors include: not pre‑heating the device before adding food, which prevents a stable cooking temperature; failing to shake or turn the basket midway, leading to uneven cooking; over‑filling the basket, which blocks air circulation; using too much or too little oil, which can make foods soggy or overly dry; and cooking items with very different sizes or cooking times together, which results in some pieces being under‑cooked while others burn.

To eliminate the characteristic burnt odor that can develop in the fryer basket, a cleaning routine is recommended. Soak the basket in warm water with two tablespoons of baking soda for about 30 minutes, then spray white vinegar on the surfaces and let it act for another 10 minutes. For stubborn residues, apply a paste of baking soda and lemon juice, let it sit for 15 minutes, and scrub gently with a soft brush. A final step of steaming the empty basket with a slice of lemon at 100 °C for 5–7 minutes helps dissolve lingering greases and refreshes the scent. Avoid abrasive sponges or harsh detergents to protect the non‑stick coating.
