Air fryers: Product features and nutritional considerations

Recent discussions regarding air fryers highlight both consumer product availability and nutritional considerations. The Tefal Easy Fry Silence, a five-liter air fryer, is currently available at a discounted price through Alza. This model features a Smart Assist system with 55 food presets, a temperature range of 40–220 °C, and is marketed as one of the quietest models in its line, operating at approximately 48 dB.

From a health perspective, nutrition expert Harman Bajwa warns that air fryers do not automatically make unhealthy foods healthy. While they reduce the need for added oil compared to deep frying, the nutritional profile of processed foods—such as high salt or saturated fat content in frozen products—remains unchanged. Additionally, experts advise against overcooking starchy foods to minimize the formation of acrylamide, a chemical that can develop at high temperatures.
