Air India Boeing 787 fuel‑control button found normal after crash investigation

India’s civil aviation ministry said a detailed examination by Boeing of the fuel‑control button on the Air India Boeing 787 that crashed shortly after take‑off from Ahmedabad found no abnormality. Deputy Minister Murlidhar Mohol told the upper house that while the initial check showed the button was sound, a comprehensive review of the aircraft’s thrust‑control module is still underway at Boeing’s facilities.

The crash, which killed all but one of the 242 passengers and crew, revived scrutiny of the fuel‑control system after a 2020 Gujarat accident involving the same aircraft type. Authorities continue to investigate other possible causes, but the latest findings shift focus away from a button defect toward other factors, including pilot actions.
