Air India flight diverted to Jaipur following hijack alert

An Air India Boeing 787-9 flight, AI-2030, traveling from Frankfurt to Delhi was diverted to Jaipur International Airport on Wednesday morning following a security alert. The diversion occurred after the aircraft transmitted Squawk Code 7500, an international transponder signal indicating potential hijacking or unlawful interference, while in the Mumbai Flight Information Region.

Upon landing in Jaipur at approximately 9:35 a.m., the aircraft was moved to an isolation bay. Security forces, including the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), local police, and the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS), conducted a thorough inspection of the plane and passenger luggage. All 306 passengers and crew members were safely evacuated and moved to the airport terminal.

Preliminary investigations suggest the alert may have been triggered accidentally by the pilot or was a technical error. While initial reports mentioned a bomb threat, airport officials clarified it was a hijacking rumor. Following the security clearance, passengers reboarded the aircraft and continued their journey to Delhi. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has launched a probe into the incident.
