Air India restores nonstop flights between India and New York

Air India has resumed nonstop flight operations between India and the New York metropolitan area as of November 4, 2026. The airline has restored four services connecting Delhi and Mumbai to New York’s JFK and Newark Liberty International Airport.

The decision to eliminate the previous stop in Rome follows the reopening of Iraqi airspace and an improved security assessment regarding Iraq, Syria, and Jordan. The airline had previously introduced the Rome stop in February 2026 due to flight path disruptions caused by the US-Iran conflict.

By removing the intermediate stop, Air India expects to reduce journey times by approximately four hours, bringing travel duration down to between 15 and 16 hours.
