Air India suspends co-pilot after positive alcohol test in Zurich

Air India has suspended a co-pilot following an incident at Zurich Airport. On September 6, airport staff at the check-in counter noticed the smell of alcohol on the crew member prior to the departure of flight AI151 to Delhi.

Following the report, authorities conducted a breathalyzer test which returned a positive result for alcohol. As a consequence, Air India cancelled the flight and the co-pilot was sent back to India as a passenger. The airline stated it is awaiting a formal report from Swiss authorities before deciding on further disciplinary actions.
